Florida Housing Finance Corporation has awarded the City of Palm Bay funds to be utilized to implement the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) strategies within the Local Housing Assistance Plan. The SHIP program is created for the purpose of providing funds to expand the production of and preserve affordable housing in Palm Bay.
Strategy #1 Purchase Assistance with Rehabilitation -Mitigation
Strategy #2 Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation
Strategy #3 Demolition/Reconstruction
Strategy #4 Emergency Assistance
Strategy #6 Disaster Assistance
Strategy #7 Rental development
The City will reserve 20% for Special Needs Households. 10% shall be used to administer the program. Strategy 6 will be funded provided there is a declared disaster.
Eligible single-family, owner-occupied households must qualify under specifically mandated income limits adjusted to family size as established by the Florida Housing Finance Agency for the City of Palm Bay and in accordance with the specific guidelines created for each strategy.

The State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable home-ownership and rental housing.
The Program was designed to provide Very Low, Low, and Moderate-Income households with assistance to purchase a home; repair a home; and many other types of housing assistance.
